Alter do Chão is a small village in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest. Near the city of Santarém, it is famous for its stunning river beaches along the Tapajós River and beautiful forest surrounding.

USD 1,120 per person

 

Payment

A deposit of 300 USD is required to reserve a place on the retreat. This is a refundable deposit and is required at the time of booking to secure your place. Full payment is due 30 days prior to the retreat starting date once the retreat is confirmed by us. We will send a request notice. If the booking is made 30 days or less, prior to the starting date, full payment is required at the time of booking. We accept Paypal, PagSeguro or wire transfer.

 

Group size

The retreat is confirmed once the minimum of 3 participants is guaranteed.

 

Cancellation

If the number of participants is less than 3, the retreat will be cancelled and any deposit made to us will be fully refunded. You will also have the option to stay with us, with a different arrangement of food and activities and a re-calculated price. If the participant requests cancellation within at least 30 days prior to the retreat a cancellation fee of 300 USD will be retained. Any additional amounts will be refunded. If cancellation occurs after that or in case of no-show no refunds will be made.

 

FOOD

Three full vegetarian meals a day are included. Breakfasts, lunch and dinners all prepared to your wellness and a healthy body and mind on the tour. Our meals are prepared with the utmost love and care and the menu includes fresh juices, delicious entrees and desserts for full enjoyment of your feeding experience. Snacks, fruits, teas and the best fresh-natural water will be available to you during the entire day. We seek to use local ingredients as much as possible so to enhance the travel experience and to explore the culinary culture of the Amazon, as well as to reduce our carbon print.

 

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

 

Airport transfer

The transfer included in the package is for pick-up at Santarem's airport on Sunday at 10:00am and drop-off on Saturday at 10:00am. Any participant needing a different time for pick-up and/or drop-off may inform us and we will arrange taxi transportation on the participant's expense.

 

Course information

No previous yoga experience is required and the retreat is designed for all levels of practitioners.

 

Temperature/climate

The climate in the Amazon region is always warm and wet, with the temperature ranging from 20 to 30 degrees celsius. During the months from January to July the rainy season offers the beautiful flooded areas, with daily rains mostly during the night and possible thunderstorms. From August to January, the dry season reveals the stunning river beaches, it gets a little hotter and the sunshines every day. During the nights the temperature drops and you will need a small blanket or sleeping bag to sleep in the hammock.

 

Passport / visa

Visa requirements are dependent on your nationality and are a responsibility of the traveler. Please check your country's requirements, applications for visas are at the Brazilian consulate or embassy. You must have a passport valid for six months after your arrival date to be permitted entry into Brazil.

 

Vaccination

You are recommended to seek the consultation of a qualified medical practitioner and travel clinic for the latest information on health and vaccinations needed prior to your travel to Brazil and specifically the Amazon. First aid and hospital Maloca Viva is fully equipped with first aid kit for frivolous accidents. Alter do Chão, which is just 5min from Maloca Viva has a very good health care base for injuries, ailments and animal accidents and Santarém has hospitals in case of any serious problem.
