How it is to stay at Maloca Viva
Understand a bit how your stay with us will be

To come to the Amazon and stay at Maloca Viva is a unique experience, in which people can allow themselves to integrate with each other, the environment and themselves. Here you will be invited to participate in a collectivity experience, contributing to create an environment of joy, development and love.

The “Maloqueiros”, how we call our guests, must understand that to stay at Maloca a certain level of detachment is required. Life in a house in the florest involves adapting to the nature, respecting people, the animals and the plants. Above everything it is about experiencing a different lifestyle.

You will stay in a structure with no walls, share the kitchen, the bathrooms and all the terrain. Because of that, you will have to be responsible for your garbage, for keeping your belongings organized and cleaning after your personal use of the kitchen. Resting is imperative and must be respected, which means that after 10 pm and before 7am we are not allowed to make noise.

ANIMALS

Many people ask us how it is possible to stay in a house without the protection of walls in the middle of the Amazon: “but what about the mosquitos? And the leopards and snakes?

Thanks to the dense waters of the Tapajós River, mosquitos don't proliferate and a restoring sleep is guaranteed! During the day you won't be attacked by mosquitos like in southeast coast of the Atlantic Forest. Maybe just one little bite or another, to remind you that you are in the forest.

With regards to more dangerous animals, you can rest assured that they are much more afraid of us and not interested at all in attacking us. In any case, a medical unit in Alter do Chão has serum against bites, something which is very rare in the region.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that we have lovely and friendly cats around Maloca, which cheer us and contribute to keep insects and other little animals away. If you are allergic to or have anything against cats, please let us know and we will try to solve the issue.
